Cars in German Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were contacted by a individual who noticed a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say preliminary tests suggest the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.

City officials said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.

A high-ranking official said the incident left him without words and required to be addressed promptly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
